Project SAUL Australia (PSA) is a community based Youth at-Risk Programme that is supported by Rotary and the general community. It was started in Canberra in 1995, and now is being utilised in NSW Rural areas as well. It aims to break down the barriers between Police, Community and Youth. It is primarily targeted at Youth at-Risk, these being young people who are in direct and immediate distress as a result of substance abuse, family conflict, domestic violence or other extreme social or physical difficulties.
Project Saul has been operating now for 10 years providing quality programmes and activities for youth at-risk, for other youth organisations and for schools.
The year 2006 promises to be one of challenge and refocus for Project Saul. We are going to focus more on core business - that is the conduct of youth ministry through Operation Barnabas Programmes. The implication here is that we will no longer be conducting School Outdoor Education programmes, and will only be conducting Operation Barnabas (Behavioural) programmes, at least for 2006. These will be conducted in the weeks 29th May to 2nd June and 27th Nov to 1st Dec. At this stage we plan to run 2 concurrent programmes in each of the above mentioned weeks, and invite schools to apply for one of these slots.
